Mare Street London

Project Description

The works comprise of the demolition of 2no two-storey buildings, the stripping out of an existing building, ground improvement works, and drainage diversion works.

The site consists of various buildings and is enclosed by Silesia Buildings to the north, Mare Street to the east, and Cyntra Place to the south, with a car park to the west.

The building on the east side is a four-storey structure built in 1925, featuring masonry walls with an internal concrete-encased steel frame. To the west of the site stands a two-storey building constructed in 1936, comprising masonry load-bearing walls, internal steel from timber flooring, and a lightweight metal roof supported by a steel truss.

To the south of the site is a two-storey building erected around 1936, constructed from load-bearing masonry walls with a lightweight metal roof.

Scope of work

Challenges Faced:
1. Demolition of buildings in close proximity to a local populated area, with residential and commercial properties located in surrounding roads.
2. Potential hazards due to noise, dust, and vehicular traffic.
3. Dirt, dust, and noise are always issues on active demolition sites. Redbridge Construction Ltd is particularly mindful of local residents and neighboring businesses. Therefore, we ensure that all work follows guidelines outlined in method statements and RAMS, in line with policies to minimize the impact on the surrounding areas as much as possible.
